Christmas at the Mill

The Golden Historical Society will host its twelfth annual "Christmas at the Mill" on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 8 AM to 3 PM at the Prairie Mills Windmill Hall.  All proceeds benefit the Golden Windmill.

 

This event is partially funded by a grant from Thrivent.
A special thanks also to DOT Foods for their food donations.

 

 

Special Attractions

 

GINGERBREAD HOUSE CONTEST (NEW)!  Enter a gingerbread house in two categories; original home crafted or a house made from a kit.  Entries will be broken down into two age groups; children up to age 18 and adult.  Entries are on display until 2:00 PM and prizes will be awarded.

FOOD!  Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 11:00 AM or until sold out and includes coffee, rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits. 

 

Soup, sandwiches, desserts and beverages will be available from 11:30 until closing.

 

A BAKE SALE from 9 AM to 3 PM (or until sold out) features homemade traditional German and American Christmas treats.
Come early for best choice. 
Donations of baked goods are welcome and will be accepted on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

 

SHOP ‘TIL YOU DROP!  Vendors will fill the hall with handmade crafts and other gifts.  The Windmill Gift Shop booth will feature many unique windmill-themed items.

SANTA's COMING!  Have lunch and visit with Santa from 11:30 AM to
12:30 PM.  Sorry parents, kids only.  A child’s lunch with Santa is free until 12:30, then lunch is $2.00 each.

 

Take a photo of your child with Santa; bring your own camera.

 

KIDS ACTIVITIES!  After lunch Mrs. Claus and her elves will read stories and have other activities with the kids.  Other hands-on historical activities and entertainment on the stage throughout the day

A Christmas carol sing-along around the Christmas tree will put all in the Christmas spirit.

 

TREE DECORATING CONTEST!  Central School District classes will each receive a two-foot tree to decorate in their own theme.  The trees will be judged and prizes will be awarded.  Vote for your favorite tree! 
A silent auction for the trees will conclude at 2:00 PM.
