Christmas at the Mill |

The Golden Historical Society will host its second annual "Christmas at the Mill" on Saturday, December 6, 8 AM to 7 PM at the Prairie Mills Windmill Hall.
Soup, sandwiches, desserts and beverages will be available all day. Christmas music and other entertainment will be offered throughout the event to put everyone in the Christmas spirit.
Special Attractions
SHOP ‘TIL YOU DROP! Vendors will fill the hall with handmade crafts and other gifts. A BAKE SALE features homemade traditional German and American Christmas treats. Come early for best choice. The Gift Shop will be open and features many new items including an alderwood Christmas ornament and a new cookbook.

SANTA's COMING! Your kids can join Santa for lunch at 11:30 AM. Contact Lois Reason at 217-696-4672 or e-mail for more information.
From 12:30 to 2:30 PM kids can have their picture taken with Santa by our own photographer for a small fee. Contact Shelly Jones at 217-696-2719 or e-mail for more information.
KIDS ACTIVITIES! At 2:00 p.m., kids will create a gingerbread house and make holiday decorations. “Opa and Oma” will describe Christmas traditions and life in Golden in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Mr. and Mrs. Emminga may also make an appearance. A new “kitchen and parlor” will demonstrate early home life and preparation for Christmas.
TREE AND DECORATION DISPLAYS! The Windmill Hall will be filled with a variety of Christmas trees with trimmings from the 1800s along with some modern trees. There will also be displays of other family traditions and handmade decorations. Anyone may decorate a tree or provide items to display.

TREE COMPETITION! New this year, Central Elementary School classes through 4th grade will each decorate a two-foot tree. The trees will be judged and prizes will be awarded.
