Welcome to…

The Prairie Mills
Windmill

Golden, Illinois

Visit the “Prairie Mill” in Golden, Illinois (Adams County), a restored Dutch smock windmill and a historic landmark in western Illinois.  It is the only restored, US-built windmill operating with its original millstones and wood gear mechanism!  Built in 1873 by Henry Emminga, it’s one of only two dutch windmills in downstate Illinois.

Tours are available from May 1, 2010 through October 24, 2010 on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 PM.

Tours are also available by appointment or by chance.
